Skoda, Volkswagen recall their ‘Made in India’ cars: Company points out issues with seat-belt

Skoda and Volkswagen have recalled ‘Made in India’ cars available in the country; mentioned Autocar India is its report while citing SIAM data. Skoda has recalled Skoda Kylaq, Kushaq and Slavia variants in India. On the other hand, the Volkswagen brand has recalled Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus cars in India.
The made-in-India models from Skoda/ Volkswagen that were produced between May 24, 2024 and April 1, 2025 are included in the recall. In the event of frontal collision, the rear seatbelts buckle latch plate are likely to break. On the other hand, the webbing of the rear centre seatbelt assembly along with buckle of rear seatbelt is likely to break. The issues are likely to pose safety risk for passengers sitting at the rear.
A total of 47,235 units are affected by the recall. According to SIAM recall documents 25,722 units of Skoda Kylaq, Kushaq and Slavia are affected. On the other hand, Volkswagen has recalled 21,513 units of Taigun and Virtus.
The Under the hood, the Skoda Slavia/ Kushaq and Volkswagen Virtus/ Taigun get 1.5 TSI variants gets 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine will produce a maximum power of 148hp and a torque of 250Nm. In terms of the gearbox, the 1.5-litre engine with seven-speed DSG automatic. The 1.0-litre TSI petrol is a smaller engine and produces a power of 115hp of power along with a torque of 175Nm. The 1.0-litre engine is available with a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic gearbox options.
