Six new police outposts to open in Gorakhpur; security arrangements to be strengthened.
Gorakhpur. Preparations are underway to take a significant step towards strengthening law and order and improving public access to the police in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur district. A proposal has been drafted to open six new police outposts in various parts of the district. The establishment of these outposts will increase the police presence and is expected to facilitate a faster response to criminal incidents. Currently, around 45 police outposts are operational in the district; with the addition of these six new ones, the total count will exceed 50.
Priority is being given to areas where increased population and traffic flow have created a need for a greater police presence. The Dharamshala Underpass is a key location among the proposed sites. Additionally, plans are in place to open outposts at three separate locations in the Khorabar area. Proposals have also been made to set up new outposts behind the Gulriha police station and near Green City.
The Dharamshala Underpass and its surrounding areas are among the city’s busiest zones, witnessing heavy footfall and traffic. Establishing a police outpost here will aid in monitoring traffic and keeping an eye on suspicious activities. It will also ensure the immediate availability of police at the local level in the event of an incident or dispute.
The proposal for three new outposts in the Khorabar area is also considered significant. This region has seen rapid development over the past few years, with the population expanding alongside the growth of new residential colonies and commercial activities. As the city expands, the responsibility of maintaining security has also grown; the three new outposts will strengthen the police presence across different parts of Khorabar.
Preparations are also underway to bolster the police setup in the Gulriha police station area, with a new outpost proposed behind the station itself. The need for additional police infrastructure is being felt due to the area’s expanding population and the development of new settlements. Once the new outpost is established, local residents may no longer need to travel to the distant main police station for minor issues or complaints. Similarly, there are plans to open a new police outpost near Green City. This move is considered significant for strengthening security arrangements in the city’s rapidly developing residential areas. As the population in new colonies grows, a local police presence becomes essential to curb incidents such as theft, vehicle theft, disputes, and other criminal activities. Once the outpost is established, police personnel will be able to easily conduct regular patrols and surveillance in the area.
Police outposts serve as a vital link between police stations and the general public. Personnel from the outpost can quickly reach the scene in response to minor complaints, local disputes, or reports of suspicious activity. The new outposts will also allow for a special focus on women’s safety. An increased police presence in schools, colleges, markets, public transport hubs, and crowded areas can provide added security for women and female students.
