Siddipet: All set for annual Komuraveli Jatara

Siddipet: The annual Jatra of the temple Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy at Komuraveli will begin with the divine wedding of the presiding deity on January 7. Temple authorities, district administration and police departments are preparing for the annual festival which will attract thousands of devotees from across the state and neighboring states. The divine marriage of Mallikarjuna Swamy will be performed with his consorts Medalla Devi and Kethamma Devi. On the eve of the divine marriage, the priest will perform Drishti Kumbh and Ekadash Rudrabhishekam. Agnigundalu will also be performed on the wedding night when devotees will walk on fire. As a part of Saktotsav, as per ancient tradition, decorated bullock carts will pass by the temple. The next day the temple priests will perform Laksh Bilvarchana for the President’s idol. During the next 12 Sundays till April 7, Patanamvaram will be celebrated when a large number of devotees will visit the temple. To fulfill one’s vow, the temple features a unique species of painting, Painting Patnam. Charity Minister Konda Surekha had reviewed the preparations for the annual festival. Siddipet Collector Prashant Jeevan Patil also visited the temple to review the arrangements of the Jathara along with other officials of the department. The temple has been illuminated with colors in front of the Jatra.
