Siddaramaiah rules out CBI probe into Hassan sex scandal

Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday ruled out a CBI probe into the Hasan sex scandal, saying his government has full confidence in the Karnataka Police. Ignoring the opposition parties’ demand for a CBI probe, he told reporters here that there is no international angle in the case. He alleged that the BJP is presenting the case in this manner to put pressure on the central agency’s investigation. He said, “Opposition parties should have confidence in Karnataka Police. If they don’t trust the SIT, who will they trust?” He said that BJP and former PM HD Deve Gowda, who had spoken against CBI some time ago, have suddenly fallen in love with the central agency. Siddaramaiah said that during his previous tenure as CM, he had referred the DK Ravi, KJ George and Paresh Mesta cases to the CBI. But they did not yield any results. He alleged that the BJP, which is now demanding a CBI probe, did not order investigation by the central agency into several corruption cases during its rule. Asked if JDS leader HD Revanna was arrested on a false FIR, he said if the Holenarsipur MLA had not committed any mistake then why had he applied for anticipatory bail? Why did the court reject his bail plea?
