Siddaramaiah announces job for acid attack victim

Bengaluru (IANS). Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday announced a job for a woman who survived an SD attack. She had come with her parents during the ‘Janata Darshan’ at the Chief Minister’s residence, pleading for help.

After listening to her plight, Siddaramaiah instructed the girl to get employment on the spot.

The 23-year-old victim is a post graduate. Her crazy lover had put acid on her on 28 April 2022.

Her parents told that they had requested former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai for a job but only got assurances.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has given instructions for appointment on contract basis.

In this acid attack case, the Karnataka Police had filed a 770-page charge sheet in the court.

The young woman had to undergo multiple surgeries in the hospital and fight for life. On the day of the incident, the assailant Nagesh was waiting in an auto near the girl’s office in Sunkadakatte, Bengaluru. He followed her and poured acid on her.

The girl had suffered 35 per cent burns. Police said the accused studied in the same school as the victim in SSLC (Class 10). After being completely rejected by the girl, he attacked her.

The charge sheet submitted in the court of the 13th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) named 92 witnesses.

The investigators have also submitted statements of two eyewitnesses taken under section 164 of the IPC. Nagesh was missing since April 28 and managed to dodge the police by disguising himself as a monk in saffron clothes.

The police also entered the ashram disguised as devotees and after tireless efforts got clues about him and caught him.

When he tried to run away, the police shot him in the leg.

Karnataka Police had formed 10 special teams to nab the attacker. There was pressure from all sides to delay his arrest.

Finally, after 16 days, the Kamakshipalya police caught him from Tiruvannamalai town in Tamil Nadu.

According to sources, while in judicial custody in Karnataka, Nagesh has developed gangrene and it is feared that his leg will have to be amputated.

Nagesh alias Acid Naga is currently in the jail hospital where he is undergoing treatment for gangrene.

The victim told the media that God has punished her, but the punishment from the court is yet to come. She said, “My life is not the same, it has changed a lot. I need many surgeries for which I often go to hospitals. God has punished her.”
