Shot fired in dispute, one person dead

Muzaffarnagar: One person was killed in an alleged firing dispute over dancing during a wedding ceremony in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district. Police gave this information on Thursday. Police said that the incident took place on Wednesday night at ‘King Villa’ function venue on Delhi-Dehradun National Highway in Mansoorpur police station area and the deceased has been identified as Nikhil Tiwari (35). According to police area officer Ravi Shankar, a wedding procession had come here from Vasundhara Colony of Ghaziabad in which firing took place over a dispute over dancing. He said that Tiwari, who was injured by the bullet, was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The area officer said that the police have registered the case and started investigation and efforts are on to identify the accused from the CCTV camera footage. He said that the body has been sent for post-mortem.
