Shimla: Process to demolish illegal parts of Sanjauli Mosque begins

Himachal Pradesh: Demolition of unauthorised floors of a mosque in Sanjauli, Shimla has begun. Muhammad Latif, president of Sanjauli Masjid Committee, said that the committee has received a no objection certificate (NOC) from the Himachal Pradesh Waqf Board to demolish the floors. He said that they have informed the district administration, Municipal Corporation Shimla as well as the Superintendent of Police (SP). “We have spoken to labourers and if they come today, we will start demolishing the structure from today itself,” he said. He said that demolition of the floors may take three to four months as the committee is using its own funds for the work. The move was taken after the Commissioner Court directed the Sanjauli Masjid Committee to demolish the unauthorised floors of the structure. After receiving the order, the committee sought permission from the Himachal Pradesh Waqf Board to demolish the unauthorised floors as the property is owned by the board.
