Shimla: Market worth Rs 4.5 crore inaugurated in Totu

Himachal Pradesh: Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu today inaugurated a Mandi at Totu in Shimla district to enable farmers to get better prices for their cash crops and vegetables nearer to their homes. Built at a cost of Rs 4.5 crore, the facility comprises eight shops, auction platform, 20-bed hostel for farmers, a spacious hall for public functions and other necessary amenities. The Chief Minister said that this Mandi would immensely benefit farmers of various panchayats like Dhami, Ghanahati, Majathai, Bagi, Dhamoon, Baichadi, Dhanda, Chail, Nehra, Devnagar, Glot, Jubbarhatti, Rampuri, Shakrah and Kalihatti. He said that the government was setting up regulated Mandis across the state to ensure fair prices to farmers.

Sukhu announced opening of a Block Medical Office (BMO) and Rs 2 crore for construction of Badaheri-Shilli-Hiranagar road. He said that the state government was committed to strengthen the rural economy. The chief minister said, “The debt burden on the state has increased due to the financial mismanagement of the previous BJP government, but efforts are being made to raise additional revenue.” Health Minister Dhani Ram Shandil and Public Works Department Minister Vikramaditya Singh were also present on the occasion.
