Shimla: Final notice issued to Tutikandi bus station on property tax of Rs 6.3 crore

Shimla: The Shimla Municipal Corporation has issued a final notice to the management of Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT), Tutikandi for not paying property tax of Rs 6.33 crore and asked it to pay the dues within two weeks. The corporation has warned the ISBT management that its water and electricity connections will be disconnected if it does not deposit the property tax within the stipulated time limit. According to the corporation, the ISBT management has not yet deposited the property tax despite several notices.
The ISBT building houses several eateries, a multiplex, shops and hotels besides the interstate bus stand. Shimla Municipal Corporation Commissioner Bhupinder Atri said that a final notice has been issued to the ISBT management for not paying the property tax. He said that if the management does not deposit the tax on time, strict action will be taken against it as per rules. Meanwhile, the Municipal Corporation has also issued property tax bills to more than 27,000 building owners in the city. The last date for depositing the tax is July 31. The bills were to be issued earlier this year, but the process got delayed as most of the MC staff were busy with election duty. The MC had decided to extend the last date for submitting the property.
