Shigmotsav festival is starting from 26th March in Goa

Panjim: The annual celebration of Shigmotsav festival is scheduled to take place across the state from March 26 to April 8.

The festival float parade will start from Ponda, and will be held at Calangutea, Sankhali, Valpoi, Porvorim, Bicholim, Pernem, Canacona, Vasco, Shiroda, Curchorem, Quepem, Dharbandora, Margao, Mapusa, Sanguem and Cuncolim respectively.
Each place from where the Shigmotsav parade originates brings forth its own unique customs and traditions associated with the festival. The parade of floats will also include Romtamel, traditional dances like Ghodemodani, Dhangar dance, Gof and Morulo. The beautifully lit tableaux were based on mythological scenes inspired by Ramayana and Mahabharata, recreating the victorious battle of the gods against the demons with light and sound effects.

The Shigmotsav float parade will be a visual spectacle, with participants dressed in traditional costumes and adorned with elaborate ornaments along with huge colorful flags and various cultural elements. The beats of the dhol (Goan musical instrument) will electrify the atmosphere, creating a feeling of excitement and joy. Each element of Shigmotsav offers a glimpse into the lives and traditions of Goans and allows tourists to interact with locals, witness rich cultural celebrations and enhance their understanding of Goa, making each visit a truly enriching experience. The parade of floats will be held in Panaji on Saturday, March 30. This year, due to the ongoing works of Smart City, the route of the parade has been changed from 18th June Road to Dayanand Bandodkar Road.
