Sextortion racket case: Nigeria’s Djedje Raymond duped over Rs 1 Cr from several women of six countries

Cuttack: Nigerian national Djedje Raymond, who was arrested on charges of Sextortion, has duped over Rs 1 Crore from several women of six countries, informed the Commissionerate Police.
Polie has reportedly unearthed several vital information from Djedje Raymond, whom it had taken on a five-day remand after arresting him from Delhi recently. Besides, it has written to the concerned officials of Ivory Coast and Nigeria over the passports seized from his possessions.
It is to be noted here that the Commissionerate Police started an investigation based on the complaint received by the family of a deceased lady doctor of Cuttack. In her suicide note, the doctor had mentioned several phone numbers including some international numbers.
While tracking the numbers, police nabbed Djedje Raymond alias Chijioke John Okoye, from Delhi on March 22 and busted the sextortion racket case.
In course of probe, police seized Raymond’s two passports, one laptop, five mobiles and 8 SIM cards including that of United Kingdoms and domestic SIMs.
Djedje Raymond used created fake Facebook accounts of several established Indian doctors and engineers and send friend requests to people, especially to women. By chatting with them, he used to developed friendship with them and then cunningly lured them to obtain their mobile and WhatsApp numbers by giving a sense of having a relationship with them.
Subsequently, Djedje Raymond managed to collect private photographs/videos of the victims by sharing fake photos/videos of him. Then, he used those private photographs and videos of the victim for blackmailing them. In instant case also, accused cunningly obtained such incriminating photos of the victim and utilising them, he started blackmailing her by threatening to make it viral on social media. Unfortunately, the victim got scared from it because of the social stigma and finding no other way, took her life.
