Security lapse, woman MLA injured

Kerala. Congress MLA Uma Thomas was seriously injured after falling down from the gallery of Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Sunday. MLA Thomas was attending an official program at the stadium when the accident happened. She suffered a head injury in this accident and was admitted to the hospital for emergency treatment. Uma Thomas is a member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly, representing the Thrikkakara seat. She won this seat in the 2022 by-election. Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Kerala Assembly VD Satishan said that her condition is stable and she is out of danger.

VD Satishan said, “There is nothing to fear. Her condition is stabilizing. The head injury needs to be monitored 24 hours a day. A team of doctors from Kottayam Medical College is coming to Renai Medicity. Arrangements have been made to provide all kinds of medical assistance. All vital parameters including blood pressure are stable.” Regarding the reason behind the incident, Satishan said that it is being investigated and the priority is on Thomas’ treatment. He said, “We will investigate the security lapse later. Right now the most important thing is to provide him the best treatment, which is going well. I have spoken to all the doctors who are taking care of him.”
