‘Scalp Cooling System’ signs joint deal worth Rs 30 lakh for cancer care
Mumbai: The new episode of ‘Shark Tank India’ season three saw ‘Eva Scalp Cooling System’ striking a joint deal with sharks Namita Thapar, Aman Gupta and Ritesh Aggarwal for chemotherapy relief solutions worth Rs 30 lakh.
In a country embracing innovation, StemTech Medical Devices, founded by Raghuveer Surupa, has developed India’s first scalp cooling system for cancer care.
Bringing his brainchild to the entrepreneurial reality show, Raghuveer, who is an IIM Ranchi alumnus, signed a deal worth Rs 30 lakh for a two per cent equity stake.
Raghuveer is at the helm of StemTech, leading with a vision inspired by personal experience – watching his aunt’s courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
StemTech’s oncologist-recommended flagship device, the ‘Eva Scalp Cooling System’ helps cancer patients prevent one of the most challenging side effects of chemotherapy – hair loss.
This innovative system, installed in 12 hospitals across five states, has conducted 1000 successful sessions in the last year.
The deal was closed with Namita, executive director, Emcure Pharmaceutical Ltd, Aman, co-founder and CMO of BOAT, and Ritesh, founder and CEO of OYO Rooms, for 1.8 per cent equity at Rs 30 lakh.
Discussing his experience on the show, Raghuveer said: “The Shark Tank opportunity came at a very opportune time for ‘Eva Scalp Cooling’. We have designed, developed and manufactured this device over the last four years. “Will give us the opportunity to do that.” “Raise awareness of the severity of hair loss caused by cancer treatment and the solutions we provide.”
