Sarpanch transferred Rs 1 crore to relatives’ account, villagers reached collectorate with complaint

Dhamtari. The Central and State governments give crores of rupees to the Gram Panchayat every year for the development of villages, but the money received from the government for development works is being misappropriated. An example of which can be seen in village Soram of Dhamtari.

Where the villagers have accused the Sarpanch of embezzling government funds of more than Rs 20 lakh. The villagers are demanding action from the administration against the Sarpanch. In fact, every year the villages get lakhs of rupees from the Central Government for basic facilities under the 14th Finance and 15th Finance.

Villagers said that in the last financial year, the Panchayat had received an amount of about Rs 1 crore from the government for the development of the village, out of which not even a single rupee of work has been done in the village. The villagers alleged that the Sarpanch had deposited Rs 10 lakh in her husband’s account and government money in the accounts of other relatives as well.

Villagers say that they came to know about this embezzlement when they went to the online portal of the government. Due to which the villagers have demanded the removal of the Sarpanch under Section 40 and action against him. However, after investigating the case, the district administration is talking about taking action against the Sarpanch if he is found guilty.
