Sambalpur Police Seize Illegal Firearms And Ammunition; Five Arrested

Sambalpur: In a major crackdown on illegal arms, Sambalpur Police have seized five illegal firearms, 19 rounds of live ammunition, and one vehicle in two separate cases registered on Thursday.

Acting on specific intelligence, teams from Ainthapali Police Station and Khetrajpur Police Station conducted raids and arrested five persons involved in the possession and trafficking of illegal arms.

In connection with Ainthapali police station under Sections 25(1B)(a), 25(A)(1), and 27 of the Arms Act, four persons have been arrested.

They are: Binay Pradhan (35), son of Murali Pradhan of Danipali, Kultapada under Ainthapali police station; Bikram Pattnaik (50) of Badabazar Halali Mill Lal Mohan Yadav (48) of Sakhipada; and Bharat Suna (64) of Danipali, Pragati Vihar.

In the second case, Khetrajpur police Station under the same sections of the Arms Act, one person was arrested — Nurul Huda (47), son of Late Md Kamal of Pahad Sirguda, Jamidar Pada, Attabira, Bargarh district.

During the operations, police seized a total of five illegal firearms (four from the Ainthapali case and one from the Khetrajpur case), 19 rounds of live ammunition, and one blue Maruti Suzuki S-Cross vehicle.

Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the illegal arms and ascertain if the accused were part of a larger network.
