Sal wood seized, was being transported by tractor

Korba. Forest personnel have seized sal along with the vehicle while carrying it in a tractor in Chhaprahi Mohalla near village Lafa in Katghora forest division Pali range. A case of illegal transportation of forest produce has been registered against the driver under the Indian Forest Act.

The Forest Department was continuously receiving information about illegal cutting of trees around Lafa of Pali forest range. Forest department formed a team and started night patrolling. Meanwhile, during patrolling on Thursday night, the team reached Chhaprahi Mohalla village Lafa. Here, fresh wet wood of Sal and other species was found being loaded and transported in a tractor vehicle by road.

During enquiry, no valid document was found on the spot regarding transportation of forest produce. Forest personnel seized the loaded wood along with the vehicle used to transport the said illegal forest produce. A forest crime case has been registered against the accused driver Sohail Kumar and Mayank Pandey, resident of Lafa. Forest department personnel YK Adil, Deepak Kumar Patel, Suresh Singh Thakur, BFO Rajesh Dhirahi, Forestry Watchman Laxman, Phuleshwar Das Manikpuri, government vehicle driver Jitendra Singh and Forest Management Committee Lafa had important contributions in the action.
