S. Abdul Nazeer Emphasizes the Role of Universities in ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’

Kadapa: Andhra Pradesh Governor Justice S. Abdul Nazeer stated on Friday that universities bear a crucial responsibility in the ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ (Developed India 2047) mission, which was launched with the objective of improving living standards and achieving economic equity across the country. He emphasized that Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) must cultivate leadership qualities in students through a combination of skill development and values-based education.

Congratulating the graduating students, he described the convocation as a memorable milestone in a student’s life and an opportune moment to reflect upon their responsibilities toward society and nation-building. Justice Abdul Nazeer cautioned the students regarding the rapid advancements taking place in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advised them to steadfastly uphold their faith in human intellect, empathy, and critical thinking. He remarked that the true value of a degree lies not merely in academic performance, but equally in one’s character, competence, conduct, and moral values. Referring to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, he noted that this reform initiative possesses the potential to prepare students to confront global challenges while simultaneously preserving India’s core cultural values.
On this occasion, Dr. Kota Harinarayana—the architect of India’s ‘Light Combat Aircraft’ program—was conferred with the honorary degree of ‘Doctor of Science’ by Yogi Vemana University. Addressing the students, he asserted that the nation requires more creative leaders capable of driving innovation, excellence, and effective leadership. He urged the graduates to cultivate a global perspective alongside analytical thinking, and to embrace a multidisciplinary approach to education that encompasses fields such as nanotechnology, biotechnology, cognitive science, and information technology.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Highlighting the progress of the university, Bellamkonda Raja Sekhar stated that YVU has evolved from a postgraduate center into a prestigious institution and has secured a place among the top 100 universities in the country.
