Rs 258 crore approved for sewer project in Palampur: Dy CM

Himachal Pradesh: Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said Rs 258 crore will be spent on the sewer project sanctioned for Palampur. Talking to reporters on Saturday, Agnihotri said the tender process for the project has been completed and the project will cover sewerage laid in the following wards of the municipal corporation, Lohana, Ghuggar Tanda, Aima, Sugar, Ghuggar Khilru and Bindrawan. Besides, new sewer lines will be laid in wards 2 and 3 as the sewerage laid by the old municipal council has expired. He said this is the biggest development project sanctioned by the Congress government for Palampur.

He said under the project, not only will sewer lines be laid in the city, but the existing water supply system of the city will be enhanced by installing latest filtration and purification equipment to provide clean water to the residents of Palampur. He said there are 15 wards in the Palampur Municipal Corporation. Under this project, in the first phase, sewerage system will be provided in the densely populated half of the city, while in the next phase, it is proposed to connect the remaining part of the city with sewerage. The Deputy Chief Minister said that Rs 48 crore is being spent by the IPH department to augment and replace the water supply system in 15 wards of Palampur Municipal Corporation. Earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister inaugurated a water reservoir constructed at Aima village at a cost of Rs 1.9 crore under the AMRUT Mission.
