Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 spotted while testing in India; expected to offer front dual disc brakes

Royal Enfield is planning to strengthen its 650cc segment in India and the company will be launching the Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 very soon. The motorcycle has been spotted on the Indian roads and the testing unit was equipped with features that were new to the Royal Enfield family. Post the launch, the motorcycle will be the most premium offering by RE in its line-up.

According to the spy shots that were initially shared by Motorbeam, the test mule was seen in a highly camouflaged avatar. When it comes to the engine, the motorcycle is expected to offer a 650cc engine that is already offered in the 650cc segment motorcycles of the company. The motorcycle will offer a 648cc parallel-twin engine but a single exhaust setup. It is assumed that this setup will help the Himalayan during off-roading and touring.

When it comes to the seating capability, the motorcycle offers a split-type design and the front seat offers a good amount of comfort and convenience for the riders. The rear sub-frame of the motorcycle offers braces that can be extended in a luggage rack.

If compared to the Himalayan 450, the Royal Enfield 650 gets a semi-fairing and this makes it look more like a touring motorcycle rather than an off-road bike. The design of the motorcycle offers a big-bike look. The fuel tank of the motorcycle is expected to be more than 20 litres and this will offer a longer range.

When it comes to the instrument cluster, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 is expected to get a fully digital TFT screen. The round dash is expected to be the same as offered in the Himalayan 450 and Guerilla 450. We can expect features like Google Maps and music controls in the dash.

When it comes to the engine of the Himalayan 650, the 648cc parallel-twin engine offers output of 50 bhp and 60 Nm with 6-speed gearbox. Pricing wise it is expected that Himalayan 650 will be priced around Rs 4 lakh (ex-showroom).
