Robber steals 13-gram gold chain from elderly woman while offering prayers in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Taking advantage of the crowd on the occasion of Kartik Purnima, a robber snatched a gold chain from an elderly woman from a Shiva temple in Behera street near the N5 area in Nayapalli in Bhubaneswar this morning.

The robber stole the gold chain of Lakshmipriya Pati when she stood in the queue to offer prayers for Kartik purnima. The gold chain was 13 grams in weight which would have an estimated cost of Rs 1,00,000. The lady has lodged a complaint in Nayapalli police station in this matter. Police is investigating the matter.

The elderly woman is not the first case, chain snatching has been on a rise in the capital city in the past few days.
