Retired soldier beaten by sand mafia, opposition to mining proved costly

Rajnandgaon. A retired soldier filed a police complaint regarding illegal sand mining on private land donated to him. He stated that illegal mining was carried out on his donated land, Khasra No. 10, on Thursday morning using a JCB (CG 08AZ8811) and a Mazda (CG 04 ND 6157).
The incident occurred in Ghunghwa village, under the Dongargaon police station area. Piyush Sahu, a retired soldier from Vivekananda Nagar, alleges that the vehicles belong to Lalit Sahu. When he attempted to stop the mining, the drivers assaulted him.
He stated that a similar incident occurred five months ago, and a police complaint was filed, but no action was taken. The disputed land was donated to the Anand Marg Pracharak Sangh, and its landowner is Acharya Sarveru Avdhoot. The retired soldier has also informed Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma about the incident. He also stated that a complaint regarding illegal mining was filed with the then Collector in 2024, but the mining failed to stop. Piyush Sahu has demanded from the police administration that immediate and strict action should be taken against all the accused involved in illegal mining on donated land.
