Retired Judge’s Family Celebrates Daughter’s Divorce with Grandeur

Usually, people celebrate weddings, festivals, anniversaries, birthdays and other auspicious occasions. But, the family of a retired judge celebrated his daughter’s divorce in a grand manner. The ceremony was held like a wedding with band bajas, melatalas, games and a feast. This incident took place in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.

The family of retired judge Dr. Gyanendra Kumar Sharma from Meerut celebrated the granting of their daughter’s divorce in a completely different way from traditional social norms. Sharma’s daughter Pranitha Vashishtha, a PG in psychology, got married to an Army Major in 2018. Following disputes between the couple, a family court in Meerut granted her a divorce.

As soon as Praneetha came out of the court, her family members garlanded her and took her to her birthplace in a procession with mela talas. During this procession, all of Praneetha’s family members wore T-shirts with Praneetha’s pictures saying ‘I love my daughter’. He said that if his daughter is not happy in her married life, it is his duty to bring her out of that environment.

When local media representatives asked if they were receiving any alimony during the divorce, Gyanendra Kumar said that daughters are not assets and that they do not need any alimony.
