Republic Day celebrations: Marina Beach declared a red zone.

Tamil Nadu: The Chennai Metropolitan Police has declared the Marina Beach area a red zone on the eve of the Republic Day celebrations.

The Republic Day celebrations (January 26) are being held near the Labour Statue on Marina Beach. At the event that took place that morning, Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi hoisted the national flag in the presence of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.

In view of the event, as a precautionary measure, the Chennai Police has banned the flying of drones, remote-controlled microlight aircraft, paragliders, paramotors, hang gliders, hot air balloons, etc., within the Chennai Metropolitan Police limits for two days, on January 25 and 26.

The roads and routes from the Worker Statue area on Marina Beach, from the Governor’s House to Marina Beach, and from the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s residence in Alwarpet to Marina Beach have been declared a red zone by the Chennai Police. Police Commissioner Arun stated that flying drones and any other aerial devices is prohibited in these areas. Arun also said that a five-layer police security cordon has been put in place around the area where the event is being held.

Traffic Diversions: On Republic Day, vehicular traffic will be prohibited on Kamaraj Road from Gandhi Statue to the War Memorial from 6 AM until the conclusion of the event. Traffic diversions have also been implemented.
