Relief to Tiruppur: On the orders of Chief Minister Vijay, water will be released from Amaravati Dam for 6 days.

Chennai: Keeping in mind the drinking water needs of the people of Tiruppur district, the Tamil Nadu government has decided to release water from Amaravati Dam for six days. Chief Minister S. On the instructions of Joseph Vijay, the state government has given permission for controlled release of water from Amravati Dam from Wednesday, July 15 to July 21. The government says that the objective of this decision is to maintain the smooth supply of drinking water in various areas of Tiruppur district and to provide adequate quantity of water to the people.

According to the official press release issued by the Tamil Nadu government, Chief Minister S. Joseph Vijay took this decision after reviewing the recommendations of the concerned departments and the existing water requirement of the district. The order states that water will be released from Amravati Dam into the Amravati River through river sluices over a period of six days from July 15 to July 21. The total quantity of water released during this period will not exceed 414.72 million cubic feet (MCFT).

The government has clarified that the purpose of releasing water is only to meet the drinking water requirements of Tiruppur district. Instructions have been given to the Water Resources Department and the local administration to ensure the use of water for drinking water supply on priority basis, so that both urban and rural areas of the district can benefit from it.

Amaravati Dam is one of the major reservoirs of Tamil Nadu and is considered an important water source for many surrounding areas including Tiruppur. In view of the uncertainty of monsoon and increasing water demand, controlled quantities of water are released from the dam from time to time. This time also the government has decided to release limited quantity of water after assessing the available water storage and future requirements.

The government release said that the Water Resources Department has been instructed to ensure that the flow of water is completely controlled and that water is not released beyond the prescribed limit. Along with this, the concerned officers have been instructed to continuously monitor the water distribution system and immediately resolve any technical or administrative problem.

The administration believes that this decision will provide relief to the drinking water problem being experienced in Tiruppur district for many days. Due to heat and low rainfall, pressure on water sources had increased in many areas, affecting regular water supply. Now after the release of water from the dam, adequate quantity of water is expected to be available for water supply schemes.

Local bodies and departments related to drinking water supply have also been instructed to ensure proper and responsible use of available water. Besides, emphasis has also been laid on making people aware about water conservation, so that maximum benefit can be taken from the available resources.

The government has also appealed to farmers and people living on the river banks to remain alert. Although water will be released in controlled quantity, yet in view of the possibility of rise in the water level of the river, instructions have been given to the concerned departments to take necessary precautionary measures. The district administration has been asked to keep an eye on the river bank areas and give timely information to the local people if needed.

According to Water Resources Department officials, the entire process of water release will be continuously monitored. Water flow, water level and distribution system will be reviewed daily, so that no problem arises. If circumstances change, the government can take further decisions as necessary.

Tiruppur district is also known for industrial activities and has a large population dependent on drinking water schemes. In such a situation, this decision to release water from Amravati Dam is being considered important not only for the common citizens but also for the local administration. Officials say that this will help in controlling the drinking water crisis in the district to a great extent.

The Tamil Nadu government has reiterated that water management in different parts of the state is being given priority and wherever required, decisions will be taken in time based on available resources. Chief Minister S. This order issued on the instructions of Joseph Vijay is part of this policy, the objective of which is to provide safe drinking water to the people without any hindrance and ensure balanced use of water resources.

The government has instructed all the concerned departments to work in coordination for effective implementation of the order. Now water will be released from Amaravati Dam in a controlled manner for the next six days, which is expected to help in providing drinking water to thousands of families in Tiruppur district.
