Registration of 15 hospitals cancelled in Chhattisgarh

Raipur. The Health and Family Welfare Department of the Chhattisgarh Government inspected 28 hospitals in Raipur, Durg and Bilaspur, taking strict action on fake claims under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Ayushman Health Scheme. After investigation, the registration of 15 hospitals was canceled for one year, while 4 hospitals were suspended for 6 months, 4 for 3 months and warning letters have been issued to 5 hospitals.
The National Anti-Fraud Unit of the National Health Authority (NHA) has been identifying fake claims from time to time and sending triggers. In this episode, the Chhattisgarh government had given instructions to take action after detailed investigation, after which the State Nodal Agency identified suspicious hospitals and called a special meeting of state and district level officials. A comprehensive inspection campaign was carried out in Raipur, Durg and Bilaspur districts, in which joint teams of doctors and administrative officials conducted a thorough physical inspection of two hospitals every day.
Show cause notices were issued to all 28 hospitals on finding evidence of irregularities during the inspection and sufficient time was given to respond. The explanations given by the hospitals were not found satisfactory, on the basis of which action has been taken as per rules. Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, calling this action necessary, said that the Chhattisgarh government is fully committed to the protection of public health. He said that the objective of Ayushman Yojana and Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Ayushman Health Scheme is to provide accessible and free medical services to every citizen of the state. He warned that strict action will be taken against hospitals committing irregularities and such irregularities will not be tolerated.
Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal has clarified that the state government is completely serious about the transparency of health schemes and strict action will be taken against any hospital that violates the rules. To ensure that the benefits of Ayushman Yojana reach only the eligible beneficiaries in the right manner, the Chhattisgarh government will keep a strict vigil and similar action will continue in future as well.
