Readymade Garment Manufacturing Unit: A Gateway to Employment Opportunities

Raipur. The Chhattisgarh government is constantly working for the expansion of employment and self-employment opportunities in the state. Today, there are new avenues for regular employment at the local level, particularly in areas where there were no employment choices. People of all socioeconomic backgrounds are now becoming financially secure. The government has established the Rural Industrial Park (RIPA) in Gauthans, which promotes entrepreneurship through regional participation and the availability of local resources.

The readymade garment manufacturing unit established in Marri Bangla village’s Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park(RIPA), Balod district, has emerged as a successful source of employment, providing business opportunities and financial stability to rural women. Over eight self-help groups (SHGs) have been involved in the unit, which offers employment opportunities to its members, enabling them to earn a substantial income. The ready-made garment manufacturing unit operated here has become an effective means of providing employment, where rural youth are pursuing their interests. Notably, women have already earned a significant income of Rs. 2,56,000 from the production of readymade garments.

The unit produces various items such as petticoats and T-shirts, with a total value of manufactured materials amounting to Rs. 6,97,000 and a production cost of Rs. 4,91,000. Several women’s SHGs, including Sai Baba, Jai Maa Tulsi, Bharat Mata, Jai Ganga Maiya, Jai Maa Shakambhari, Jai Maa Danteshwari, Minimata, and Narmada SHGs, are actively involved in this unit, promoting women’s empowerment through economic prosperity.

Women associated with RIPA stated that after completing household responsibilities, all the members come to RIPA to make ready-made garments. The establishment of the ready-made garment manufacturing unit in RIPA has helped them earn sufficient income to meet their household expenses. They expressed gratitude towards Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel for providing employment opportunities to them.
