Raveena confers Kashish Rainbow Warrior Award to Onir for ‘Pine Cone’

Mumbai (IANS) | Actress Raveena Tandon recently honored filmmaker Onir with the prestigious Kashish Rainbow Warrior Award for his film ‘Pine Cone’. He was presented with the award at the opening ceremony of the 14th Kashish International Queer Film Festival. The event celebrates diversity, inclusion and the power of cinema. The film explores the complexities of same-sex relationships, going beyond the boundaries of societal norms, and highlights the experiences of the LGBT+ community.

The Kashish Rainbow Award holds special significance for Onir because of the ongoing debate around Pride Month and same-sex marriage.

Onir said, “This award is incredibly special, not only because it is Pride Month, but also because it is Kashish, and it is special that this award of love happens in my city… Mumbai. I thank Kashish Film Festival and Sridhar for this award.

Onir also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Raveena Tandon who has been his friend and supporter for the last 23 years.

I am delighted to receive this award from my friend Raveena, who has been a lifelong colleague. And I am glad to have my friend, my biggest support system, my Nikhil and my business partner Sanjay Suri in the audience today.

“For me, this award is for all the countries around the world where we are still criminalized, murdered and adopted,” he said. This is to let them know that we will win and we are thinking of you.
