Rare melanistic leopard spotted with cub in Odisha’s Nayagarh forest
Nayagarh: A rare melanistic leopard has been spotted along with it’s cub in the forest of Nayagarh district in Odisha. The tiger was caught on camera carrying a cub in its mouth.
A melanistic leopard tiger has given birth to a baby for the second time in Nayagarh forest, informed a forest officer.
There were four melanistic leopards under Nayagarh forest and Mahanadi Wildlife Forest Range. Last year, they gave birth to two cubs.
This year, they have given birth to a few cubs. The big cat was caught on camera carrying a cub in its mouth. The forest department does not have information on how many cubs have taken birth.
The number of cubs can be exactly known once the tigers would be caught in front of a camera, the Nayagarh forest officer said.
