Rape of a girl on the pretext of marriage, accused arrested

Ambikapur. The Kotwali police arrested the accused of rape on the pretext of marriage within a few hours. According to the police, the applicant came to the Kotwali police station on April 26 and lodged a report that she had met Purushottam, a resident of village Sukhri Rajpur in the year 2019. There used to be conversations between the accused and the applicant on mobile and Purshotam also used to come and go in the rented room of the applicant. Incident dated 17 January 2021, when the applicant was alone in her room, the accused Purushottam raped the applicant on the pretext of marrying her by saying that he liked her.

From the date of the incident till March 2024, the accused raped the applicant continuously and now the accused Purushottam was refusing to marry the applicant. Based on the report of the applicant, the crime was registered and taken up for investigation. With the continuous efforts of the police team, the accused in the case was surrounded and interrogated. The accused told his name to be Purshottam Sukhri police station Rajpur district Balrampur. The accused admitted to committing the crime. After finding evidence of crime against the accused, he was arrested and remand was prepared and presented before the Honorable Court.
