Rameshwar Teli and BTR chief Pramod Boro inaugurate unprecedented ₹540 crore, 20,000 KL capacity HPCL depot at Chirang

Chirang: Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Rameshwar Teli and Chief Executive Member, Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Pramod Boro recently announced the construction of HPCL Petroleum, Oil Lubricants (POL) and LPG depot at Karmadanga. In Chirang, BTR.

He initiated a huge depot project of 20,000 KL capacity. This project is HPCL’s first project of this size in the North Eastern region.

Teli said this development will bring industrial boom in BTR. The project promises not only to create jobs but also improve local road connectivity and other public services.

Pramod Boro explains how the project comes four years after the historic 2020 BTR peace accord. This shocked a region that had seen unrest for more than forty years, opening the door to progress. In his vote of thanks, he praised the NDA government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the state government. He appreciated the local people of Chirang for providing land for the project.

Spread over 78.68 acres, this advanced ₹540 crore, 20,440 kilo liter capacity project will boost energy access and economic development in the North-East. Apart from serving Chirang and surrounding areas, it will ensure continuous supply of LPG to 78 distributors and 9.2 lakh customers. This project will also benefit approximately 7 lakh Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) beneficiaries.

The possession certificate was given to a group of top HPCL officials led by Marketing Director Amit Garg. This is for over 200 acres of land where an HPCL POL and LPG depot will be built.

Garg informed that soon, HPCL and BTC administration will sign a MoU on cooperation. It will outline plans for local development, job opportunities and other collaborative initiatives during and after the project. It is expected to start in three years. HPCL officials said that once ready, the project will meet our energy needs and increase the availability of LPG.

The event organized on the occasion was attended by many dignitaries including Rajya Sabha MP Rangwara Narzary, Senior Executive Members and Members of the Council Legislative Assembly of BTC.
