Raja Chakra’s associate Sushant Samal arrested for his link with multi-crore scam

Keonjhar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha Crime Branch on Thursday arrested Sushant Samal, a close associate of Soumya Shankar Chakra aka Raja Chakra, who has been arrested for his involvement with office-bearers of Gandhamardan Loading Agency and Transporting Cooperative Society limited in the misappropriation of Rs 35 crore.

The EOW arrested Samal based on a complaint filed by a villager residing near the Gandhamardan mines in Keonjhar district and forwarded him to the court after registering a case under sections 406, 409, 420, 467, 468, 471, and 120-B of the IPC.

On the other hand, Raja Chakra, who was earlier arrested for his role in the alleged scam, has been taken by the EOW on a three-day remand and is facing interrogation by the officials. He owns multiple businesses including Sankar Mineral, Shankar Transporting, Shankar Roadways, and Sankar Projects.

The EOW has so far seized a total of 42 vehicles along with two screening plants belonging to Raja Chakra. They also have frozen his several bank accounts with an amount of approximately Rs 25 lakh.

Further investigations into the matter are underway.
