Rain water filled in school, children getting wet

Gaurela: In Gaurela district, the school premises are filled with water due to illegal encroachment by filling the culvert. Children are reaching school through knee-deep water. Two years after the collector removed the illegal encroachment, the school’s water drainage has been blocked again by illegal encroachment. This case is of the middle school of village Pandaripani, dominated by the special backward tribe Baiga, under Pendraroad tehsil. Actually, after making a boundary around this school, the culvert to which the drainage drain was connected, has been illegally occupied by a person from the same village, Prem Singh Gond, by filling it with soil. Due to this illegal encroachment, the drainage of water from the school has completely stopped, due to which the school premises are filled with rainwater.

On the other hand, due to knee-deep water, students are facing difficulty in coming to school. Also, sports activities in the playground have also stopped. School students, parents and school staff say that the administration should take cognizance of this matter and make arrangements for water drainage, so that there is no problem in coming and going to school and sports activities are not affected. Let us tell you that 2 years ago also the water drainage was closed in a similar way, after which on 12 July 2022, the then Collector Richa Prakash Chaudhary took cognizance of the matter. Despite that, the way for water drainage has been closed again by illegal occupation. By order of the Collector, the then Naib Tehsildar of Pendra Road Avinash Kujur and the then Patwari of the concerned village Pandripani Halka Raj Kumar Uikey got rid of the problem of water logging in the school by removing the illegal occupation.
