Rain in Delhi in the evening, relief from humidity
New Delhi New Delhi: Wednesday evening turned pleasant in Delhi as rains lashed the national capital, bringing respite from humidity and heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) posted that moderate to intense rains will occur over Delhi-NCR and adjoining areas for a few hours today and advised people to avoid routes prone to waterlogging. On its official X handle, the IMD posted, “Moderate to intense rains will occur over Delhi-NCR and adjoining areas.” It further added, “The rains are likely to cause slippery roads, low visibility, traffic disruptions and localised waterlogging in low-lying areas.” The IMD advised people to avoid moving in areas that are prone to waterlogging problems. It also said, “Check traffic congestion on your route and stay updated with weather warnings.” Meanwhile, the weather department has also predicted heavy rains in Haryana and Chandigarh regions. “Heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy (115.5-204.4 mm) rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi on 3rd July, 2024,” the IMD said in a post. The IMD has also predicted moderate to intense rain (1-3 cm/hr) over central and south Delhi and adjoining areas of Gurugram and Faridabad during the next 2 hours. According to the IMD, light rain is expected to occur at 1 cm/hr, moderate rain at 1-2 cm/hr, intense rain at 2-3 cm/hr, very intense rain at 3-5 cm/hr, extremely intense rain at 5-10 cm/hr and cloudburst at more than 10 cm/hr. Also, heavy rain has been recorded over many other parts of the country, including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh. “East Uttar Pradesh received heavy to very heavy rainfall during last 24 hours of 03.07.2024, with Basti (Basti) recording 24 cm rainfall, Fatehpur Tehsil (Barabanki) recording 20 cm rainfall, Mukhalispur (Gorakhpur) recording 15 cm rainfall, Ghanghata (Sant Kabir Nagar) recording 15 cm rainfall, Nichlaul (Maharajganj) recording 15 cm rainfall, Gaighat (Ballia) recording 12 cm rainfall and Muhammadi (Kheri) recording 12 cm rainfall,” the IMD said in a post. “East Rajasthan received heavy to very heavy rainfall during last 24 hours of 03.07.2024, with Dambola and Sagwara in Dungarpur district recording 13 cm and 10 cm rainfall, respectively,” the IMD said. During the last 24 hours, Katula (Mandi) in Himachal Pradesh recorded 15 cm of rain, Pandoh (Mandi) 11 cm and Sujanpur Tira (Hamirpur) 8 cm. (ANI)
