Rain alert in Tamil Nadu from July 2 to 7, possibility of thunderstorms and strong winds

Tamil Nadu: The Chennai Meteorological Department has issued an important weather forecast for Tamil Nadu. According to the department, light rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds is expected in various parts of the state from Thursday (July 2) to July 7. During this period, the weather will change, and many areas will remain cloudy.

The Meteorological Department stated that a low-pressure area is active from South Gujarat to Karnataka. Additionally, atmospheric circulation is persisting over the North Bay of Bengal and South Bangladesh. Due to these weather conditions, a new low-pressure area is expected to form over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and surrounding areas by Friday (July 3).

As a result of these weather activities, the weather in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal will remain volatile from July 2 to July 7, with light rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds occurring at isolated locations. The department stated that these rains will generally be light, but sudden changes in weather may occur in some areas.

The capital city of Chennai and Puducherry are expected to experience partly cloudy skies on Thursday (July 2). According to the Meteorological Department, light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in some parts of the city in the evening or night. Temperatures may drop slightly during this time, and the weather will feel relatively cooler.

According to meteorologists, weather systems forming in the Bay of Bengal influence the coastal areas of South India. This is why such weather activity is being observed in Tamil Nadu and surrounding areas. Although no heavy rain or storm alert has been issued yet, the possibility of sudden changes in the weather remains.

The department has advised people to avoid open spaces during thunderstorms and seek shelter in safe places. Caution is especially needed to protect against lightning strikes. Fishermen may also be advised not to venture into the sea, although a detailed warning will be issued separately.

Slight fluctuations in the weather have been observed in several districts of Tamil Nadu for the past few days. There is sunshine, clouds, and light rain in some areas. According to the latest forecast, this situation is likely to continue for the next few days.

This light rain is considered beneficial for the agricultural sector, as it will maintain soil moisture. However, there is a possibility of minor crop damage in some areas due to strong winds.

The Meteorological Department is currently monitoring the situation and will issue further updates as needed. People have been urged to rely only on official weather information and avoid rumors.

In the coming days, everyone is also keeping an eye on the activity of the weather system forming in the Bay of Bengal, as it may impact the weather across South India.
