Railway approves final location of Chengannur-Pamba railway line

Kerala: Railways has approved the final location of the proposed Chengannur-Pamba railway line. Based on the survey, a detailed project report has been prepared and submitted to the Railway Board. The report board has started investigation. Based on this, the cost of the road will be calculated. Due to being a forest area, it has been decided to run a green train. Its main objective is to reduce noise. And is environmentally friendly. Railways will consider Vande Bharat model trains for this. After getting approval from the Railway Board, the project will be submitted to the Union Cabinet for approval. 177.80 hectares of land will have to be acquired for the road. A new station will be built in Chengannur for the Chengannur-Pamba route.

It will be at the monastery or hatchery. Chengannur station will become a junction after the new road joins the existing road. The travel time is 50 minutes. This service will be available only during pilgrimage. The rest of the time the lane will be closed. Starting from Chengannur, the route reaches Pampa via Kallissery, Aranmula, Kozhanchery, Cherukolpuzha, Ranni, Vadasserikara, Madamon, Athikayam, Nilackal and Chalakayam. Meanwhile, railway officials also believe that it would be beneficial if the Angamaly-Erumeli line is connected to the Pampa line. Railway officials said that the Railway Board is examining the possibilities of both the lines in detail. Efforts are being made to complete the project in five years. The dream project of Sabarimala devotees has now got the final approval. The railways have already acquired 23.03 hectares of land in Alappuzha district for the project. Five stations are currently scheduled on the Chengannur Pampa route. After the new line comes up, the railways believe that Sabaripatha is not needed.
