R Santhagopalan appointed as new Chief Electoral Officer of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: R Santhagopalan has been appointed as the new Chief Electoral Officer of Odisha. The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday issued the notification regarding appointment of the 2001-batch IAS officer R Santhagopalan as the new Chief Electoral Officer of Odisha. He will replace Nikunja Bihari Dhal.

A letter issued from the Secretariat of the Election Commission of India to the Chief Electoral Officer Odisha, the Chief Election Commission’s notice in this regard was forwarded.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 13A of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, the ECI in consultation with the Government of Odisha appointed R Santhagopalan as the new CEO for the State of Odisha with effect from the date he takes over charge, reads the notice of the ECI.
