Question mark on the quality of national highways, CM plans to build a ‘steel city’

Maharashtra: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, in his speech during his visit to Gadchiroli district on the first day of the new year, said that Gadchiroli will be developed all around and it will be made a ‘steel city’. However, looking at the condition of the national highways passing through the district for the last several years, the question arises whether the Chief Minister’s dream will really be fulfilled. Due to this, the poor quality of the highways under construction and completed in the district is once again in the news. Citizens keep complaining about corruption in the construction of internal roads in Gadchiroli district. But with the blessings of some officials, no action is taken against the contractors. National Highway 353 C passing through the district is incomplete.

This road from Ashti to Sironcha has been stuck in red tape for the last several years. Sometimes the Forest Department and sometimes the National Highway Authority officials point fingers at the contractor and complete their work. At the same time, it seems that these officials are deliberately ignoring the poor quality of the work being done. Due to this, the common man is facing a lot of trouble in traveling on this road. On the other hand, the construction of National Highway 543C from Desaiganj to Korchi is also going on since last year. Major irregularities are being seen here too. There was also a complaint about reducing the width of this highway in Kurkheda. However, the situation remains the same.

Major complaints were also made about National Highway 930 passing through Gadchiroli city. But here too the officials have not done any investigation. The work of the second phase of this highway has been started. A few days ago, MLA Dr. Milind had expressed dissatisfaction over the construction of this highway. When there are such big irregularities in the construction of a national highway worth thousands of crores, no official is ready to talk about it. In this case, instead of blacklisting the concerned contractors, they are being given contracts. Meanwhile, there was also a discussion that an officer of the authority himself is doing contracting. When the officials of National Highway Authority Gadchiroli were asked about this, they did not give any answer.
