Punjab: Youth beaten up on suspicion of theft
Punjab: A 26-year-old youth, resident of Burjmuhar village near the bypass, was attacked by some people of the same village with sticks and other weapons on suspicion of theft. He was seriously injured in the attack and his legs were broken. The victim has been admitted to the civil hospital for treatment. The victim’s family said that at around 11.30 pm he had gone with his maternal uncle to help a farmer in laying a water line. They said that about six people attacked him suspecting him to be a thief. The family said that when Shavinder’s maternal uncle tried to intervene, he was also attacked. The uncle ran away and informed the family about the attack. When Shavinder’s family reached the farm at night with a member of the Panchayat, they saw that Shavinder was lying there in a semi-conscious state, soaked in blood and had wounds on his legs. They brought him to Abohar Civil Hospital for treatment.
