Punjab: Women protested against the anti-drug campaign being run by the police
Punjab: Girls and women felicitated on the occasion of Lohri Dhiyaan Di celebrated by District Sanjh Kendra, Malerkotla, today took oath to work as ambassadors of police campaign against social evils including drug abuse. The oath in this regard was taken in response to a call made by the organisers led by Malerkotla SSP Gagan Ajit Singh during the concluding session of the function. District Coordinator of Student-Police Cadet Scheme Prem Singh said, “We feel indebted to the gesture shown by Malerkotla Police in felicitating our girl students and teachers.
We take an oath to support any campaign or project initiated by them against social evils including drug abuse.” He said the girl students cadets from 10 schools would work as ambassadors of police in the fight against drug peddlers. During his keynote address, the SSP appreciated that women personnel in police, like their counterparts in other departments, have performed duties beyond expectations. Folk songs, Gidda and Bhangra presented by students of various educational institutions added enthusiasm to the programmes.
