Punjab: Woman arrested for posting video of herself brandishing a pistol

Punjab: Bathinda police have arrested a woman for allegedly brandishing a pistol in a video posted on social media. A case has been registered at the Bathinda (Sadar) police station under Section 223 of the CrPC for violating the District Magistrate’s ban on brandishing weapons. Bathinda SSP Amneet Kondal said, “This is the first case of a woman brandishing a weapon. We appeal to people to follow the law and refrain from such acts.” Meanwhile, police records show that last year, 24 people, all young men, were arrested in 17 cases for the same crime. Sadar Bathinda SHO Jaswinder Singh said that police took action after receiving information that the woman had uploaded a video brandishing a weapon. He added, “A case was registered on Wednesday and she was also arrested.”
