Punjab: Woman and her son arrested with 3.23 kg heroin

Punjab: In a joint operation, the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Fazilka, along with the Border Security Force (BSF), arrested a woman and her son with 3.230 kg of heroin near Mohammad Peera border village in Fazilka district. According to the FIR lodged at the SSOC Fazilka police station, the arrests were made after police received a specific tip-off. A checkpoint was set up near the village, where the accused were stopped. They were identified as Palo Bai and her son, Gurvinder Singh, residents of Asafwala border village. During a search, police seized three packets of heroin weighing 3.230 kg from them on Tuesday evening. Sources said the consignment is suspected to have been smuggled from Pakistan using a drone. The accused were reportedly arrested while they were on their way to deliver the contraband. A case has been registered against them under sections 21(c) and 25 of the NDPS Act.
