Punjab: War heroes honored at Naggi Memorial
Punjab: The Amogha Division of the Indian Army on Saturday organised a series of events to commemorate the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice during the Battle of Naggi near Sri Ganganagar in the 1971 Indo-Pak War. The event was organised to pay tribute to these martyred heroes, ensuring that their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten. The event began with a wreath-laying ceremony, which was attended by war heroes, veterans, families of martyrs, civilians and uniformed personnel. The day’s events also included a “Run for Brave Hearts” and “Cycle Rally” led by NCC cadets, followed by a bike rally, reflecting the widespread support and appreciation for the sacrifices of the soldiers.
One of the highlights of the day was the unveiling of a plaque by the honoured war heroes and Veer Naris, marking the completion of the renovation of the Naggi War Memorial. The memorial is now a powerful symbol of the bravery and sacrifice of Indian soldiers during the 1971 conflict. The event concluded with an emotional interaction between the veterans, Veer Naris and the attendees. They shared touching stories of valour and sacrifice, evoking a deep sense of respect and admiration in the crowd.
