Punjab: VB catches deed writer taking bribe of Rs 5,000
Punjab: The Vigilance Bureau (VB) today arrested a deed writer red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 on behalf of the Tehsildar at the Tehsil premises here. The suspect, Deputy Singh, was arrested following a complaint by Paramjit Singh, a resident of Tehna village in this district. The complainant had alleged that the deed writer had demanded Rs 20,000 for getting the registry of a piece of land purchased in the name of his mother done. The complainant said that Rs 15,000 was first paid through GooglePay as per the demand of the suspect. The remaining amount was demanded in cash. The complainant provided recorded proof of the demand to the VB. The VB team laid a trap and caught the suspect while accepting the bribe. The suspect claimed that the amount was taken on behalf of the Tehsildar.
