Punjab: Two teenagers drowned in a pond

Faridkot: Two teenagers drowned in a pond of a local gurdwara in Khara village of Faridkot on Tuesday. The deceased have been identified as Harman Singh (15) and Lovepreet Singh (14). Sources revealed that the boys allegedly entered the pond without any supervision, leading to the accident. Both were rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared them dead.

Cancer hospital gets equipment worth Rs 39 lakh

Sangrur: Rotary International District-3090 handed over medical equipment worth Rs 39 lakh to Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital on Tuesday. DIG (Patiala range) Mandeep Singh Sidhu was the chief guest. Ghanshyam Kansal of the organisation said seven cardiac monitors, one defibrillator, 10 infusion pumps, 10 syringe pumps, two crash carts, 10 wheelchairs and 10 hot blowers have been handed over to the hospital.

Police officer shot dead in Tarn Taran
Amritsar: A sub-inspector was shot dead in Kot Mehtab village of Tarn Taran district on Wednesday. SI Charanjit Singh had gone there after receiving a call on helpline number 112 about a violent brawl between two groups. Efforts are on to nab the suspects who fled from the spot after the incident. Senior officers could not be contacted for comment despite repeated calls.
Kisan Milni at PAU on April 12
Chandigarh: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday asked the officials to organise a special “Kisan Milni” at Punjab Agricultural University in Ludhiana on April 12 to make farmers aware about paddy cultivation. He said farmers would be made aware of innovative and less water consuming varieties of paddy. He said the focus would be on motivating farmers to use high-yielding varieties approved by the university.
