Punjab: Sports events organised to actively fight drug abuse
Punjab: Continuing efforts to tackle the growing drug menace, Malerkotla Police led by SSP Gagan Ajit Singh organised several sports events in Malerkotla, Amargarh and Ahmedgarh subdivisions. The subdivision level events included football, kabaddi and wrestling competitions held at Malerkotla’s mini football stadium, Amargarh stadium and Kanganwal arena. SSP Gagan Ajit Singh, SP (H) Swarn Kaur and SP (D) Vaibhav Sehgal attended the concluding session of the events, which were supervised by DSP Kuldeep Singh, DSP Davinder Singh Sandhu, DSP Ranjit Singh and DSP Rajan Sharma.
SSP Singh praised the cooperation of local residents in the drive against drug abuse and other social issues. He emphasised on the growing support from social and sports organisations working closely with the police to encourage the youth to adopt the spirit of sports and stay away from drugs. SSP Singh said, “By collaborating with the organisers of sports fairs and tournaments, we have launched a state-level campaign under the guidance of DGP Gaurav Yadav to engage the youth in sports of their choice and keep them away from the harmful influence of drug peddlers.”
