Punjab: Soon get revenue records on your mobile

Punjab: Getting revenue documents will soon be just a click away as the Revenue Department is going to launch a digital platform aimed at delivery of citizen-centric services. Officials of the department said that soft trials are being done and about 20,000 documents have been issued. The official said that the formal launch of online services will be done in the coming days. The department will allow citizens to submit online requests for change of ownership mutation at www.jamabandi.punjab.gov.in Under this initiative, land owners of 13,000 villages of Punjab will be able to obtain digitally signed copy of revenue documents such as land record (fard), land ownership (jamabandi), apply for change of ownership (mutation) on the basis of registered deed or inheritance and make corrections in land records from the comfort of their homes.

The move will reduce the involvement of lower level staff and eliminate the hassles faced by document seekers at government offices. By paying a nominal fee, the applicant can obtain a digitally verified copy of the land record within a minute of uploading the required details. A bar code on the digitally signed document will also help buyers of any land or financial institutions to verify and authenticate the ownership of the land. Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Finance Commissioner Revenue Anurag Verma said the earlier process of obtaining mutation often required individuals to go through several layers of bureaucracy, including patwaris, kanungos and tehsildars. Besides, the department has fixed the time set for verification of undisputed mutations from 45 days to 30 days, which will come into effect from May 1. Now deputy commissioners will monitor the overdue cases on a daily basis, Verma said, adding that the time limit for inspection of income certificate and revenue records has been fixed at 15 days and seven days, respectively.
