Punjab: Six arrested for stealing copper from transformer
Punjab: Police have busted a gang involved in stealing copper from transformers and motors in Faridkot. Police seized 80 kg copper, wires, a gas cylinder, a spray pump and confiscated the vehicle used in the crime. The arrested persons have been identified as Basant Singha, resident of Sandhwan village in Faridkot, Malkit Singh, resident of Surena, Jaspal Singh, resident of Araiya Wala Kalan, Gurpreet Singh, resident of Kotha Guru Ka in Faridkot, Jagdeep Singh, resident of Raunta and Kewal Singh, resident of Saide village in Moga. The gang mainly stole copper parts of transformers and motors from villages of Golewala, Kauni, Deep Singh Wala, Rorikapura, Surewala, Dauda, Salabatpura and Saidoke. Sources said the gang has stolen parts from around 50 transformers. The person who purchased the stolen material from the gang has also been identified, police said. One of the main accused, Basant, has a case of attempt to murder registered against him.
