Punjab: Panchayats resolve to fight against drug abuse
Sangrur: At a district-level contact meeting organised by Barnala district police on Tuesday, 113 resolutions were passed by gram panchayats pledging their full cooperation to the police in the crackdown against drug peddlers. The programme was chaired by Patiala Range DIG Mandeep Singh Sidhu.
Property of sacked naib tehsildar attached
Jalandhar: The ED has provisionally attached immovable properties worth Rs 12.31 crore of sacked naib tehsildar Varinderpal Singh Dhoot, then patwari Iqbal Singh and property dealers for allegedly violating the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. They were allegedly involved in illegally allotting excess portion of “shamlat” land in Siyonk village to ineligible persons.
DEO suspended
Fazilka: Fazilka deputy district education officer (DEO) Pankaj Angi has been suspended for dereliction of duty. School education secretary Anindita Mitra passed orders in this regard.
