Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit resigns from post
Amritsar: The Governor of Punjab, Banwarilal Purohit has resigned from his position citing some personal reasons and other commitments on Saturday. The Governor has submitted his resignation from the post of Governor of Punjab and Union territory of Chandigarh. Governor Banwarilal Purohit has sent the official letter of resignation to President Droupadi Murmu, which read, “Due to my personal reasons and certain other commitments, I tender my resignation from the post of the Governor of Punjab and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh. Please accept the same and oblige.” The resignation came amid tension between him and the Chief Minister of the state Bhagwant Mann and the ruling party. The two parties have been fighting over assent to pending bills, which has now reached the Supreme Court.
