Punjab: Gangster Ashish Chopra Sent to 4-Day Police Remand

Punjab: A court in Ferozepur on Friday remanded gangster Ashish Chopra to four days of police custody until March 17 in connection with the murder of three people. Chopra was arrested by the Punjab Police, with the assistance of central agencies, at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. He was brought to Ferozepur late Thursday night under tight security and produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate Anoop Singh. The gangster is accused of involvement in the murder of three individuals that took place on September 2 last year.
In this incident, six motorcycle-borne assailants allegedly fired approximately 50 rounds at a group of youths. The attack resulted in the deaths of Jaspreet Kaur (26), her brother Akashdeep Singh (21), and their cousin Dildeep Singh (32), while two other relatives sustained injuries. The police have named eight accused individuals in this case, including Ravinder alias Ravi alias Sukkhu, Rajvir Singh alias Daler Singh, Sukhchain Singh alias Jas Gyani, Akshay alias Bashi, Gautam, Prince, Ashish Chopra, and Happy Mall.
